- 14.00 Ketli Tiitsar (Estonia): Estonian Jewellery 1960-2000 Jewellery art
has been one of the most interesting branches of Estonian applied art since
the 1960s. Displaying innovative ideas at different times fast and flexibly,
as well as maintaining its bonds with local traditions, this field of art
has become quite unique. The presentation gives an overview of Estonian professional
jewellery art on the basis of the jewellery collection of the Estonian Museum
of Applied Art and Design, established in 1946, including altogether over
2200 pieces of jewellery by more than 130 Estonian authors. Ketli Tiitsar
is jewellery artist and project manager at the Estonian
Museum of Applied Art and Design.
- 15.00 Tanel Veenre (Estonia) delivers a paper prepared by Prof Kadri Mälk,
6 Clouds: the presentation of the young jewellery of Estonia, describing it
in 6 clouds of perception. Kadri Mälk is a jewellery artist and professor
on jewellery at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Tanel Veenre is a jewellery
artist, photographer and lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts.

- Rare Leid: In Scots ‘leid’ stands for language - the means of expression
and communication. In Estonian it means discovery, find. Jewellery is a language
without borders. It is understandable everywhere regardless of nationality,
status or worldview.
- The exhibition will not give an overview of Estonian jewellery scenery but
a selection of different ideas, materials and ways of thinking. It is an ambience
where the adornment is first and foremost a means of communication.
